About
I have been a fitness and nutrition junkie since I was a kid. I remember being about 6 years old and the highlight of my day was the PBS program LILLIAS YOGA and YOU. I couldn’t wait to stretch and breathe with Lillias each week day, while weekend visits to Grandmas meant strapping into her butt shaking machine and lifting dumb bells.
From there I moved onto Jane Fonda Step Aroebics as a pre teen followed by Buns of Steel, Legs of Steel, and Abs of Steel. Then came THE FIRM series and Karen Voight. In my early-mid 20s my life was changed by TaeBo which gave me an independent strength I had not experienced before.
Today it is Turbo Jam that gets me to lace up my Nike pumps each day. And if I don’t feel like lacing up I can do my Yoga Booty Ballet workouts barefoot.
In addition to trying many workout trends I have tried all the diets over the years. What I found that eventually worked for me was a little bit of everything customized to meet my needs and body type.
Five years ago I adopted two children, ages 3 and 7 and everything changed. The workouts ended immediately. I lost my job because my responsibilities at home made me unreliable at work. I started eating the kids left over mac & cheese and chicken fingers because it was easy and the shock to our finances going from a family of two to a family of four with special needs didn’t leave room in our budget for wasting food.
Now that the children are happy and healthy and my family is thriving it is time to get myself healthy again. I am starting all over again, experimenting to learn what works for my 40 year old body vs. my 20 year old one.At this blog I’ll share with you the results of everything I’m trying new and what I’ve worked with over the last 30 years or so. I hope you find something in here that works for you!
